Ragnars wife Thora was a renowned Shield Maiden before she was badly wounded and decided to give up her adventuring life. She settled in Ravenholm and met an 18 year old Ragnar. Already one of the biggest men in the village at 18 years old, and one of the best looking he naturally caught her eye immediately. It was love at first sight and the two were married within a month of meeting.
Now with two children Thora has embraced her domestic existence with the same fierce determination that made her a formidable warrior. She is a senior member of the town’s militia and trains the village’s youngsters in weapons several times a week. Her renown with the bow is known for miles around and occasionally she will give lessons to those who seek her out.
The fact that Thora is a considerably more formidable warrior than Ragnar has made him the butt of many a joke over the years, but Ragnar bears the jokes with good humour and no small amount of pride. Thora’ stories of her adventuring days are part of why Ragnar wishes to become a great warrior and her devotion to ODIN and FREYA helped solidify his particular devotion to ODIN. Most nights they can be found sparring outside their house and these combats almost always draw a crowd. Ragnar is yet to win a single bout but his considerable improvement has the town betting on when he might actually win a match.
